H pipe the configuration of the midpipe makes an H. This produces a deeper, throatier sound.
X pipe the confirguration of the midpipe makes an X. This produces a raspier, higher pitched sound.

X pipe typically yields a couple more HPs than H. It's a matter of preference as far as sound goes. I wanted the flow of an X and the sound of an H, so I went with the Prochamber, which is the best of both worlds.

one pipe has an X in the middle and the other has a H. Usually the H gives more of a 60's muscle car sound. The X gives a European race car sound, but the X usually make about 3 hp more. but they both sound awasome in my oppion.

The x makes more power because of its flow. One exhaust stroke exits the exhaust out the manifold to the midpipe. If its an X pipe, the exhaust goes through the midpipe and crosses to the other side. That exhaust coming from 1 bank creates a vacuum on the other bank and theoretically pulls exhaust from the other bank. Its called the scavenging effect, since the X pipe creates a vacuum and pulls the exhaust out, it "flows better," giving more power...
