RE: Best Brake Upgrades?
if money wasn't an issue i would say go brembo. 8 piston monoblocks in the front with two piece 388mm (15") carbon disks and matching pads, aluminum hats using a 4.5 x 5 bolt pattern and6 piston monoblocks in the rear with smaller 350mm (14") carbon disk and pads. you really wanna spend $6000+ on a brake set up?[8D]
A basic big brake upgrade from wilwood, SSbrakes, baer, or brembo would do just fine, things to keep in mind larger piston area (not just more pistons) and larger disk area should be yourmain concern.
Keep in mind cross-drilled, slotted, or a mix shouldn't be a concern for you. Having big brakes, slotted rotors will cost more as they will wear pads out sooner, drilled will cause major problems if they crack, and mixing them just creates a world of both problems. Basic plain rotors would be most efficient but we all know cross-drilled or slotted rotors just look mean

RE: Best Brake Upgrades?
I am a big fan of the bullitt/mach1/cobra upgrade. I did the fronts on my car, takes it from a stock 11.5 inch rotor to a 13 inch rotor with a bigger dual piston caliper setup.
IMO you don't really need anything bigger unless your a hardcore circuit track guy, and even then your going to be needing lots of power to overcome the bullitt combo. I could tell an immediate difference in my brakes, not just in full out stopping but also in partial/easy stopping and everyday driving.
At 400ish bucks, sometimes cheaper if you shop around, its a hell of a deal. You get pads, calipers, and rotors plus a new lines. If I were to do it again I would go ahead and order the stainless steel brake lines, but I don't think its going to make that much of a difference.
BTW, anything other than this, aka the 6 piston setups etc, and your looking at 1000+ easy. IMO on a street car, and when going sub 100-120 MPH speeds, your simply not going to see a big difference between the buillit setup and something much more expensive.
Another advantage of the bullitt upgrade is you can go get pads/rotors etc almost anywhere if you need to replace them again in the future... as all you have to do is order parts for the mach 1/bullitt/cobra and it will fit. this includes aftermarket upgrades like better pads etc... but the stock stuff seems to work really well for me, hauling down from 100+ MPH runs over and over with no fade.
