How is it going to sound

How is it going to sound
A few days ago, I bought a 1998 Mustang GT on a whim, just for a fun car. I have been enjoying it all weekend, but would like it to sound a bit louder. I was just thinking of taking it to my local muffler shop and having flowmasters, or magnaflows or something welded in place of the stock mufflers. Has anybody done this or know how it sounds?

RE: How is it going to sound
I have some tail pipes that were off my car. They're 2.5" full stainless steel. They were off of my old Flowmaster exhaust. If you want them, just pay for shipping from 07462. I'm not sure what it would be...

RE: How is it going to sound
If all you care about is making alittle rumble welding in some flows will do the job just fine, but 2.5 in mandrel bent pipe will flow better then stock 2.25 in pipe. Buy the catback will prob not sound a whole lot different then welding in the flows. If performce is what your looking for the catback will do better, but if the sound is what your after weld in flows will do fine. Here is another point the mufflers will probably cost you about $120 plus you have to pay someone to put them in. A catback will prob cost around $300 and you can bolt it on yourself real easy.

buy the whole catback, replace those factory rusting pipes. Plus with some mufflers you cant just weld em in because of in and out locations of the muffler. you could but it would be rigged. Do some browsing for some clips you like. If you find one you like find out what type of muffler it is. If its oval or boxed, your in and out should be on opposite sides if available and are able to weld in. Some mufflers have center in and left out, they wont be able to weld those in right. Plus straight through race mufflers like magnapacks or round and wont be able to be welded in. Save yourself the headache and just buy a whole catback...
