Default pinging

i upped my timing to 12 degrees with my predator the other day ... now i just want to be clear on exactly what pinging is because im still not sure .. just so i can look out for it,,, iit seems normal at high RPMS and stuff, no weird sounds , but whatever i still want to know

is pinging loud enough to be noticable , or is it something that if u dont really know what it sounds like and ur not paying close attention then u wouldnt hear it ...

also is it loud enough to hear despite the loudness of the exhaust etc ...

i just like to know everything and anything about pinging and its characteristics just for my own knowledge and incase i hear any weird stuff...

i mean i doubt there would be any pinging on my car because i only went to 12 deg at 2-4k rpms and 4-6 k rpm... and i use 91 , also im not hearing and loud banging or weird stuff like that... but id still like to know all about pinging etc , thanks guys

If it's pinging, you'll hear it.

It'll sound like someones rattling change around in a coffee can. It won't awake the dead, but you'll definitely hear it.

the word on the streets and magazines is that the magic timing number on our cars (99-04) is 14 degrees, I ran my 03 with 14, and not a single problem. just make sure your always using "super" gasoline.

pinging almost sounds like someone is throwing a lot of rocks at your motor... help any??

14 deg??? my car needed 31 to get its full potential.. like you said though, make sure to only use premium(93oct) or 92 at the lowest.

basically, whatever gas that was in the car at the time of tuning is what you need to always run. unless you have multiple programs on the chip.
