real quick: fuel filter question, bout to change it
im about to change my fuel filter real quick and just wanted to make sure I dont need anything else so my car isnt out of service.
I have a 99 GT.
Anyways, I bought the following items from autzone:
FF686 Fuel Filter
OEM Ait conditioning & fuel line diconnect tool set
The guy said thats all I need to change it. Was he right?
How do I go about changing it? What special things do I need to do first? How hard will it be to get the tubes off? Am I going to get soaked in Gas? Do I need to jack the car up? Please give me all ur input you know

take the gas cap off and make sure the keys are out of the ignition, that way the system is not pressurized. The lines can be a royal royal pain in the ****. Put the tool in the line, push the line in, then pull the line out. Its easier to do it than to describe it. But it can be a pain. Gas is going to trickle out of the filter, should not squirt if you take off the cap and the keys are not in the ignition. So make sure you cover your eyes or stay out of the path of the dripping fuel.

I like to hit to yank the plug out of the pump shutoff to kill the pump, then start the car and let it die (only take a few seconds). That's about the easiest way I think to depressurize the system. You're still going to get gas on your face if it's the first time, it's a requirement of the job. Have rags ready.

for the fuel rails, purge the system on the rails. There is a valve, a valve stem, like on your tire, just push the needle and it will release the pressure. Justput a rag over that valve, and then push a screwdriver into it so the fuel wont get everywhere.

Uhh... what exactly are you doing? Did you yank the plug on the shutoff that's located in the trunk? If you do that, the pump has no power, and all the fuel that's left to run the engine is what's left in the lines. There's no way it should run that long. Mine died after a few seconds.
By the way, glad to hear everything went well for you.
