RE: backed into a pole
yeah guy in my shop managed to paralell park his cobra inbetween a telephone pole and a parked car shall we say. hes looking at a good chunk of cash, (something like 650 just to get the bumper replaced and repainted) so its not gonna be cheap.

I recently got rear-ended on the freeway and had to fix mine...body shop estimate was $650-700 (without my chrome letters[:@])
I found a good bumper that was already painted black and in nice shapefor a lot less though--in the classifieds here! Might keep it in mind anyway...

You know there is another option. Depending on how bad your car is banged up, you could just leave it as is. A bumper costs, what, a couple hundred dollars? You can put that on yourself. The paint is the problem. Shop around and find a place that'll paint your car for around $1500 and do it all at once. I know that is more than what you're going to pay for the bumper, but you get an entirely new paint job in the process.
My car has been hit twice. Once, my brother opened the door when my parents expedition was comming into the spot next to me. They hit it and bent around 7 square inches of the edge of the door near the handle. Then, my fionce's parents managed to open a door and smacked my driver's side door. I have a black mustang, so the greay where the paint peeled is very visible. But, it would cost almost $700 to get those things fixed. I'd rather save up a little more and get it all done at the same time. In the mean time, who cares what someone thinks of how your car looks? It's yours. Spend the money and make it faster. Then, when it's fast enough and you've run out of things to do for a while, paint it. That's what I would do. Again, it's simply a matter of weather you can deal with a dinged bumper.
