Default SES, high idle

After looking threw all the post, i couldnt really find any similar problems as mine, yeah i actually looked before i posted. and ill actually explain in detail how it started

Yesterday, (sat) i went to the track and ran my car, i actually got decent times for the elevation here (4400ft) but thats another story. Well nothing unusal happend, Drove back home (track is about 100miles away) Well today (sun) i went to a buddies house. I parked my car and it's been raining for the last 2 days on and off. Well i left my car at a buddies house, and we went and grabbed a bite to eat, left my car by his house for about 2.5 to 3hrs. When i got back to his house, i started my car and it was idling at about 1500rpms. I drove it home didnt think much of it. but the car's rpm never came down, so i let it idle in my yard and got some tools, thinking it was my idle screw. I came back out and tried bringing it down, but the car was still idling really high. i went to shut it off, and the SES, was on.

I have a jlt cai, 75mm tb, and trick flow intake plenum. But it just did this now, and i've had these mods for over a 4months now.

So any ideas?

I'm going to VATOZONE to get that **** checked out.

I had the same problem when I put my TB/Plenum on but only for a few minutes cause it was my idle screw. Check you air filter...I had a prob like that after a big rain and my cars idle was at like 2000 for a day...I took the filter off and let it sit for like a few hours in the garge where it was dry and popped it back on and it was fine again. But my filter is done in my fender well so it gets wet alot easier.

By the way....what was your times and what track you go to???

Yeah my filter is in the fender as well, But the car was just sitting there for 3hrs, but ill give that a shot tomorrow.

i went to Fallon, Top Gun Raceway

The elevation is like 3600-4000ft .

60ft: 1.991
1/8mile: 9.101 76mph
1/4mile: 14.1 97.3mph

Lets put it into perspective a stock hemi charger, at the track went 15.1 all day..

Right on...good times for what you have done. I am hoping and shooting for a high 13 or low 14...but it is doubtful! I am running in Devner at 5,300! I know the elevation is killer on your times. So I am heading to Cali to visit family and running it there! Good low sea level!

mine did that once when my jlt intake came off the tb and the car was getting unMAFed air which then threw a cel. double check that connection too.

mvr, good point. Always check for "unMAFed" air (intake leaks after the MAF sensor), since it is an easy visual check. Most often, the PVC hoses and other TB hoses are the culprits. This is a good check that involves looking for cracked hoses, loose hoses, etc.

You should not have to adjust your TB plate (technically a stop) ever. The IAC is in complete control of idle at all times, and hence any idle problem is likely an input or ECU malfunction/miscalculation.

My supervisor had one of those diogonstic do hickees. and he pluged it in and it threw a p1506 (rpm to low) something along those lines. And he just cleared it off with his toy and the problem went away . we started the car, it ideled high for about a split second and went back to normal.

Have your IAC checked out, can go wrong over night..... Trust me! Mine was doin the same thing, but then it got to the point where it wouldn't keep an idle. Figured it had to be time to take her into the ol Ford ICU to get her checked up.
