if your stock the hi-po ones are not worth it. with a s/c or something along those lines then yes, but stock, you will never notice a difference

If you have plans on building the car in the future, save yourself the trouble and cash and get yourself a good intake now. If not, go with stock.

Looks like your planning on supercharging it, spend a little extra and get some kind of aluminum manifold, do it now while theres a reason and not down the road throwing away the money you just spent to replace the plastic one.

i would most definitely install it myself in your situation, its more enjoyable and a learning experience if you've never done it before. plus you have yourself $200 bucks which you can use towards a RAI or CAI
there's tons of write ups on how to go about changing it, and if you can't seem to find it, follow the haynes manual and your set!

I'm in the exact same boat as you, got a 99 I just got this summer, and mine just failed too.
I'm going to replace mine myself this weekend, another useful set of instructions is found here: http://www.autoclinix.com/Manifold.htm Yes, it's done on a Mercury, but it's the same engine, only difference is it doesn't use coil on plug ignition, and the intake is on the other side. They're the directions I plan to use as a primary source.
Good luck to us!

Also, I even called Ford head office customer service to bitch, they refused to extend an extended warranty (which of course is reasonable :P), but it was worth a shot.
Where did yours crack?
Mine cracked vertically (about 3") straight down the front of the thermostat housing.
