Need Steps to Polish and Wax Paint
The car I have has never been waxed except in car washes. The paint is starting to look pretty bad (water marks, water stains, etc.). Should I use Meguiars polish and than wax it? I need to get a orbitor. Where should I get it?

RE: Need Steps to Polish and Wax Paint
I have a 1999 GT convertable and I used the Clay Bar and then put a good coat of wax after that. It looks very nice now and shines like a dream. The Clay Bar will take off all the contaminates off of the paint so the wax can do its job. Mothers makes a good Clay Bar and other companys do also. Let me know if you need anything else.

You only need to claybar once, after you claybar that one time your car should be good for at least a year before claybarring again probably longer. I usually hit my car with a polish then go back over with meguirs gold class wax. Claybar is gods gift to the detailing world[sm=smiley20.gif]

I agree to the claybar process also.I woulddo the claybar first thenif your paint is real bad you might want to use an ultrafine rubbing compound to shine it up a bit before you wax.I would use an ultrafine compound so you don't remove any more clear coat than is necessary.Once it's gone it can't be replaced.

To get a good job.You usually have to do a 3 stage cut polish, swirl remover, then final wax.Meguires, and 3M is what I use.The work awesome. But you'll need to get a good machineto do it with. I use a Porter Cable polisher with a variable speed dial. And good clean pads.It may cost you more in the beginning, but you'll alway's have them afterward.
