Default Vibration in steering wheel???

tonight i was driving my car and it has a vibration in the steering wheel every once in awhile. I thought maybe my wheels needed balancing so i got that done. That didnt help anything. I stopped at a local shop and the guy there told me that i probably had air in my power steering pump? does that sound right to you guys? The vibration doesnt happen at any certain MPH just every once inawhile the steering wheel vibrates.

Certain speeds? Could be a out of balance driveshaft, bent rim, bad tire, steering shaft, etc.

Perhaps a motor mount is damaged? or transmission mount? One of those in bad shape will cause vibrations in the steering column.

Does it happen when your driving or when you are stopping? Or both? I had that problem earlier when I'd stop, the steering wheel would shake violently. A $70 replacement of the front brake pads and rotors fixed that.

If it only happens once in a while you probably have an intermittant sticking caliper.

well it turns out the mechanic i asked was right on the money. tonight i jacked the car up and started it, then turned the wheel back and forth about 20 times, now its fine. I went for a drive and its smooth sailing now. Thanks for the replies though...
