Default ac and windshielf defrost...

when i use the ac or windshield defrost my engine sounds like it loses some power or like something is trying to work harder, is that the alternator diverting power? thats what im guessing, would putting in an upgraded alt solve this prob or is that normal?

Thats normal. Its your AC compressor that kicks on that causes the loss of power. I believe that all of the newer stangs have a WOT sensor which will still give you maximum HP/TQ when you are under full excelleration.

Yeah nothing you can do about that, aside from not using your A/C. The compressor pulley has a clutch assembly that engages when you turn the A/C **** on so it adds a little drag to your engine because it's driving one more accessory.

Just in case you haven't figured it out yet.... the a/c compressor also kicks on when you put the heater control to "defrost". Theroy is, the a/c dehumidifies the air and then you blows it on the windshield which will speed up the removal of the fog/moisture on the inside.
