Default Motor build advice

I have a 2001 mustang Gt and i was lookin into building the motor and getting it ready for a SC or turbo kit. I have looked at some options and called some shops but i was wondering if anyone can let me know a good internals combo and about how much it would be to get ordered and installed. The shops are telling me around 7500-8500 for a low compression motor. Thats just the motor and not including any fuel parts or anything. Im looking into putting a completely new block and all new internals for it. If anyone has any combo ideas that work good and can tell me the price that i should be lookin at iwould really appreciate all the advice i can get. Thanks!

Those are just the parts, the install would be a separate charge from wherever you have it done. Have you considered doing it yourself?

i looked at the website and stuff and its some good parts and i liked the block that was fully put together with all the internals and yea i have thought about putting it together myself with a buddy...butttt me and my buddy are ok mechanically sound but i just dont think i trust myself enough to do that..(know what i mean). How much do u think a reasonable ending price would be for a reliable install?

Depends on the shop. Check out this thread, it's up in the stickies. It shows how to build an engine, and it might give you a better feel for whether it's somthing you can do yourself or not. You will need the tools, an engine stand, and an engine hoist to get the motor out of the car, but if you can do it yourself you'll be saving yourself three grand.

yea i have read that one already and its bad ***....but still something i dont feel comfortable in doing. Like i said the couple of shops that i have called have qouted prices but one shop said 8500 and the other shop said 7500. Thats a pretty big difference and i just thought that something smelled kinda fishy about it and that is why i am looking it up and asking around for some advice on parts and pointers to get me on the right track

Try going to the same shops and asking a for a quote for just the install of a new short block, assuming you're providing the parts.Compare those prices.
