how long has your clutch lasted?

RE: how long has your clutch lasted?
I've never had to replace a clutch and I drive cars hard.
The main reason I've never changed it is that unlike many people I don't sit at lights etc with my foot on the clutch, I put the car in neutral and take my foot off it.
Plus if you leave your foot on the clutch, even totally down you still wear out the release bearing and can wear the pressure plate.

My stock clutch was at about 105k... It wasnt going bad i dont think, just acting up a little i thought. While i had the money i figured i would go ahead and replace it. Still had a good 20-40k miles on it but swapped it for a centerforce and is still purrin.

The clutch can last the life of the vehical if it is driven perfectly. But not many people do that. You cant coast with the clutch in, sit at intersections in first gear, cant downshift, cant slam gears and have to accelerate properly on a hill using the hand brake, and those are just a few to list which a lot of people do anyway. I got 60 out of the stock clutch beating the **** out of it and going to the track about 6 times. My centerforce isn't quite half gone and it has had a ton of launches and some pretty good track and street time. I rev-match when i down shift and dont sit at intersections in gear or at the drive through and I have about 30K on it. My friend's Volvo got to 320,000 miles before it needed a new clutch so it depends on how it was driven as you can see. and dont forget about highway vs. city driving. What kills the clutch the most is downshifting without matching revs so keep that on your mind.

Geez some of these numbers seem good...but some of these numbers are terrible. I hope this is because of racing. My GT is an auto, but i have an old4x4 toyota pickupwith 198K on the original clutch and hasn't slipped yet, evenwhen towing. I guess going to the track is torcher on those clutches!
