Default gauges

ok when you install those nice gauges and go from oem gauges that simply say water temp normal in the middle and the oil pressure gauge simply high or low ..what should they really read , when you install the new gauges that have the psi. and such ...should my temp be 180 is that normal and what would be considered high then ? Also the oil pressure what is the normal pressure for a stock 4.6 gt 97 mustang ...
rogerwilco
thanks

nice to know mine runs 180 and maybe 200 in the summer but the oil i am not sure about sometimes it drops to 20 even 15 starts out at like 48 or so ...I know i have a leak from the return line from the vortech and needs to be replaced which i think causes it too drop after a while ..not a real bad leak but bothering me alot now ..Anyone know how hard it is to replace or should i pay to get it done right?
And what is A decent price to have that line replaced? Any help with these questions would be appreciated ...rogerwilco out

the leak will cause pressure drop, or in theory it should. I THINK the normal OP is at like 40-60 at idle...

wow 40-60 that sounds great and mine starts out that way but drops to 20 or so when idle after an hours drive ...but will go up to 40 while driving..So i guess i better get that fixed a.s.a.p. otherwise damage will be done at idle..thanks alot for that information ..Anyone here from michigan ?
And if so do you know of any shops that specialize in blowers and upgrades at a decent price...thanks rogerwilco

Outside tempature makes a big difference. I had a '69 Camaro that always ran at 180-190. Driving through the Nevada desert on a very hot summer day it went up to 240. I pulled into a shop to have it repaired only to find out that all cars were running that hot out there.
