Yeah, I know the 4.10 will accelerate faster. but it WILL lower top speed. Thats all i was saying. I just never have been interested in a 4.11. 3.73 is the lowest i will go in any of my cars.

not really if you had lets say 600 hp - with a 4.10 youd top out at 175 - do you need to go faster than that?

It doesn't lower our top speed. Our terminal velocity is somewhere around 155-160 but our theoretical top speed with stock gearing is 200+. When you go for 4.10's it lowers the theoretical top speed to about 165 which we won't see because of our terminal velocity of 155-160.

the reason why i dont want the 4.10's is top of 4th is around 114ish, i would personally rather it be in the 120 range at the top of 4th with 3.73.

and thats a valid arguement... but again think about the street - the 4.10 will own the 3.73, but maybe not so in the quarter and in most cases will just break even or still win by a little, but you can always supplement gear with powah!

My personal opinion if it is a street car that see's the highway on a regular basis, bump it up to 3.73s and call it a day. If for no other reason, gas mileage. Yes 4.10s will obviously pull harder through the gears and accellerate faster, BUT once you drive a lot of miles on the highway and see how terrible your gas mileage is with the 4.10s you might regret it.

BTW the limit on top speed at around 155-160 isn't terminal velocity, its just the top speed being restricted by aerodynamics. Terminal velocity implies that you are in a free fall. Something I hope never to do in my car. Not trying to be an *** just want to make sure the terms match the uses.

That is what I though but I had read about it in an article referring to cars top speeds.

well, if you are keeping the rest of the car the same and go with lower gears you are losing top speed and gaining acceleration. No one is disputing this. this is all im saying. when i look at my cars gearing and what it runs in 4th at redline the mustang stock should run a 160 mph top speed. thats with no top speed limiter of course.
