Default 4.6 Mustang

Hey i was wondering I have a 1992 Mustang GT and i only drive it on nice days and my parents said if i can save up a decent amount fo money they will help me out getting a newer Mustang for a daily driver cause there gonna give my brother the Ranger i drive daily. I was thinking of going with a 98 Mustang GT or a 99 but there are quite abit of 96's going around here for 5900 with 80k on them I want a 5-spd but is there a certain year i should watch out for like i heard 96's burn oil feedback would be great my range is 8k or less i would prefer to spend 6500-7k or less with average miles. Thanks for your help

No late model mustangs burn oil because of their build quality.

Go up to 9-10k and you can get a nice 99-2000 GT with decent miles...

If you can afford it go with a 99-04 GT. They have Performance improved heads and intake. So they have 40 more horse power. Or some where around there. Also I dont like the looks of the mustangs 94-98 I think there to round. The 99-04's are so damn sexy! If you cant get the 99 -04 get a 88-93 you can find a real nice built one for 9 grand. I would seriouslly look into those. They are the best bang for the buck.

Buy for the look and whatever you can find the best deal. What they failed to mention was that you can make the 96-98 just as fast as the 99+ with doing the PI headswap. If u can find a 96-98 GT with decent mileage for around 6K I would do that then the PI headswap is gonna run you around $2,000 after that you will be faster than the 99+ GT's. Also it depends on what you plan to do to the car. Just dont get the impression that the 96-98 cars can not be fast if you find one for a good price and good mileage just know that with about 2K more you can make it just as fast if not a little bit faster than the 99+ GT's.

What are the PI heads?? Since I am a cop, the only thing I know Ford/PI to mean is Police Interceptor?

PI heads are 99+ GT heads. 96-98 they called them NPI heads. Same with PI cams and PI intake.

If you can do mechanical work yourself it's hella cheap to stomp the '99+ guys. I bought a complete set of heads and intake off eBay from a '99-'00 GT for $265 plus shipping, so after gaskets and other miscellaneous parts for about $600 I'm making about 270-280 horses at the flywheel with my aftermarket exhaust. You can pick up a '96 for about half of what a newer GT costs so if you like the body style look for one of those and use the money you save to mod the hell out of it. It's cheap enough to make the '96-'98 Mustangs fast that you should really buy what pleases you.

Thanks for the helpful info I appreciate it I wont be getting a 4.6 probably till August. I will probably go with the 96-98 because there the best bang for the buck around were I live and as much as i like the 99-04 They are out of my Budget plus I do mechanical work myself I am taking auto tech. at my high school i am graduating this year and getting a job in May at a local Ford dealer and quiting my current job then so i will be saving alot plus saving some for my 1992 Mustang to mod it some more the 96-98 will be a daily driver so it doesnt need to be to quick because of the winter but i will keep that PI head swap in mind down the road thanks for the help guys.
