Default Need help deciding what to do with new heads!

Alright guys well I just recently started a full time job that will actually support my hobbies. The question here is I'm ready to do a full PI swap to my 98 GT. My goal for the car (without doing a motor swap) is around 350 to 400hp (I know its hard with a SOHC). I'm lookin at doing a set of mild cams with the swap. I'll pull the motor only to put some LTs, (not sure if I want H or X yet) catless shorty midpipe, and lookin at magnapack exhaust (no point in having increased intake with crappy exhaust right?). Any suggestions for some head treatments would be great as well as any other aftermarket intake ideas I may not be aware of. Also a suggestion for a tuner with good options (even if I need a pc to use it)

There are so many options here. If it's a dd, I'd go for stage 1 cams. But for more power and a little less driveability, go with stage 2 cams. P-51 intake is a nice piece and a pretty popular choice. And for heads, I'd get a pair of PI heads and get them p&p. With those mods and a modest tune, you should easilybe around around your goal with stage 1 cams and about 15-20 more with stage 2 cams. And when chosing a tuner, call a local shop that would do your dyno tuning and see what they use there. My local shop uses SCT.

Or, you could go with a good ol' Vortech That'll get you there real quick and you can get one for less than $2,000.

If you plan on a blower later, don't do the PI swap. Compression is high and you would need to forge lower end if you want it blown. Just do the intake manifold and some cams then.

That's what I was thinking, but if I could trade my car for a NPI Stang local to me, I'd do it. I wouldn't do the fullPI swap. I'd just swap the intake and cams. And then start piecing together my blower.

After re-reading this I dont seem to agree with the earlier post. From what I remember PI cars are little lower on compression then the non-pi cars (pi are like 8:1 and non are 10:1) which made them better to boost then non-pi cars. Correction (non-pi are 9.0 and pi are 9.4 so I was wrong)
