Default heat transfer / hot intake etc

one of the things i did was switch to an underhood with a box intake style and gained a few more hp over the original UPR fenderwell intake. the problem is, driving 30 miles to the track heats up the whole intake - i.e. the intake tube, filter, upper plenum. is there a way i can combat this, and keep it cooler? i already have the EGR blocked off but it still gets hot as hell, is there something i can spray them with to keep temps down from soaking into everything or some fabric i can put over it or what?

i doubt wrapping it will do any good. intake mods are so exaggerated as it is. im sure if it did anything more than 1-2hp the majority of the hoods you see would have them wrapped. chances are if its not bieng done...it doesnt work.

i have heat wrap on my crappy JLT Heat Shield, and it works alot better than it did before... relatively cheap.

before when i touched the inside of the heatshield it was as hot as the outside of the heat shield, but now w/ the heat wrap, its alot cooler on the inside of the heatshield.

to some extent, it looks kinda crappy but good if done right, if you'd like i can get you pictures of it on my car.

that's cool, yes i'd like to see what you did there. it's just a pain for me to get down there and have it blazing hot the whole time :|

i posted a a topic about this a while back and got pretty heated. i wrapped the intake on my 03 mustang GT and didnt notice any difference so i took it off. i also made mine myself though. so i dunno if that makes a difference. BUT i also have a 3000GT VR-4, which is twin turbo, and it has the intake, intercooler piping, turbos, headers, and downpipe wrapped and it made a huge difference. IMO, i wouldn't do it unless you turbocharged, maybe even supercharged.

take the p/s headlight out when you're at the track. that's what i do. my filter is open in the engine bay and the hole behind the headlight lines up perfectly with it.

Arguing between a fenderwheel and an engine bay intake is almost pointless , your only seeiung like 3-4 horsepower out of it regardless.
