whine is normal with some brand of gears, but not Ford gears. listen, Im not saying you shouldnt setup the gears properly... Im only saying that as long as your gears are marking right and you've got good backlash thats all you really need to worry about. I, me, personally... I don't know how to setup gears "right"... I don't have a depth gauge... what I can do though is slap a set of Ford gears in and know that its done right... something Im not confident about with other brands.

I'm not sure the "whine is normal" theory is correct. Just curious, with what gears is it normal. I was told by 3 or 4 shops that whine is never normal if the gears are setup properly. Maybe they were just trying to get my money when i had gear whine.. [&:]

I have heard from 3 shops.... all of whom I get opinions and prices from, (respectable places) said that Richmond gears whine... "always". The shop I use for installs and any work recommended the FRPP gears just like everyone here. He said they were "the least likely to have gear whine". They are also supposed to be an easier install. I will let everyone know how the install goes as soon as I get enough cash to get a speedcalc.
