You're talking about two different intake systems all together. Mustangs have over head cammed motors, which means they have two cams one on either side of the engine. The other engines your talking about have push rods and only one cam (GM anyway). When you have2x as many cams its easy to have 2x as many valves. There's a whole list of pro's and con's forboth systems. The main difference in power comes from displacement just like everyone else has said.

i'd like to see how much power could be made out of a 4v 5.7L or something like that, i guess it'd be kind of similiar to the 5.4L but other than the supercar GT and GT500, are there any other 5.4L DOHC motors? they are able to squeeze quite alot out of those 5.4L DOHC, but nothing better than a corvette or viper of about the same yr really

buy a 4v

buy a 2v

slap same bolt on's on each car. dyno it and tell me what one produces more #'s

then there is your answer

Well the 07+ ZO6 uses 2v and that is consired technologically advanced car same thing withthe viper. Even with 2V "old tech" the cars still make 500hp and 600hp.

They are not an OHC engine design, cant really compare them. While the concept is the same, there is more room to make better heads when you dont have to deal with cams.

The larger motors in the Chevy and Dodge cars are able to have high flowing heads because of the fact that the bore on those engines is going to be significantly larger than our 4.6. The larger bore allows for more room for larger valves on the heads. Like said above, you are comparing apples to oranges here.

Yeah, not only are you comparing engines like the LS7 which is 7 freaking liters, but on top of that, it's not necessary that all 2v's suck. We're just talking Ford's. 4v will always be better, but at least other companies can make a 2v that isn't a turd.

On both? Because we're keeping it even right? If you SC both the numbers wont even be close.

"King of the Hill" LT-5 Vette from early-mid 90's. Fastest vette till C5 Z06. Motor had 405-420hp DOHC 5.7L.

OHC motors are more efficient, less valve train flex, all moving parts are contained within the head itself, instead of in the head and block. All things being equal they can rev higher too, which all things being equal means more HP.

Also 4v motors get air/fuel-in exhaust-out more efficiently due to there valve placement. Plus it is easier to mount the spark plug at the top of combustion chamber, which is also more efficient.

Yep ford 2v suck. Like said, you are comparing two different monsters. A Pushrod engine vs. OHC engine. That LS7 is a small block bored to a 427. It has monsterous cylinders. They're so big you can only bore it one time. So chevy did a good job with the heads and intake, and netted 500 hp from it. If the 4.6's had 4.0 inch bores we could definately run with the chevys more. As chevy likes to say, There is no replacement for displacement, and that is totally true. If all the GT mustangs was running with old school pushrod 351s or 5.8s (for people who dont know) the LS1s would be alittle scared to pick a fight with us. I actually would love to see ford bring back the 5.8s and throw into mustangs. SWEET
