Default so ive been readin it could be the timing chain

The knock/tap im hearing from my engine ive been reading could be the timing chain or guides...how can i be sure?

Where is the knock coming from? The tappets in the 4.6 motors are bad about going bad also.

Try using a long handled screwdriver or a woolden dowel as a stethoscope.Put one end on the place where you suspect the noise is coming from and the other in your ear.Move from place to place until you find the area where it is the loudest and see what parts are around there.
