Bad coil pack?[HELP!,misfiring!!!]
Tonight i washed the engine on my '02 GT..took all the precautions took the filter off put a towel in the tube, didn't spray directly into the COP's or anything..well after i cleaned it up and got it lookin real nice i took the towel out, made sure no moisture was in the intake tube, put the filter back on and fired it up..misfire. slight. so to see how bad it was i took it down the street, misfire throughout the whole powerband..none under slight acceleration, only accelerating hard..my first though, moisture in one of the coils. i took out all the coils and inspected them,1 did have a tiny bit of moisture so i cleaned it up and reinstalled them..same thing..so i pulled all the plugs on the d/s and they were fine so i didn't even bother with the p/s..the connectors were dry except for 2 had a little bit of moisture so i blew them out till they were pretty dry and reconnected..still misfiring..doesn't feel like a complete misfire though, only like the spark just isn't strong enough...any suggestions?

RE: Bad coil pack?
Let it dry overnight. Did you warm the engine up before you cleaned it? Your supposed to warm the engine spray on the degreaser then rince and let it sit for a few hours. Thats why I only use cleaning wipes and not water.

RE: Bad coil pack?
doh! wishin you was here yesterday man,no i didn't let it warm up...makes sense though ..the heat would dissapate small amounts of water really quick...took all the COPs off last night so they could sit in my bedroom overnight to make sure they're dry..gotta go get some dielectric grease here in a minute

RE: Bad coil pack?
well i reassembled the coil packs today, put dielectric grease on every connection and reinstalled,it was fine at first, then after the car warmed up and i started gettin on it it started doin it again. so i've got a trashed coil somewhere. i'm just gonna go to the graveyard and get some off a F-150 or Crown Vic..looks like i'll be investing in some MSDs here soon

oh by the way..you guys ever see the conductor in these coil packs? it's a f'in spring. not even a good spring. weak. MSD's are like spark plug wire material. MUCH healthier lookin'.

RE: Bad coil pack?
ive been told its best to actually pressure wash the engine while running... all the detailing places ive seen do it and alot of the dealerships do it as well.... wouldnt think it would be bad if the dealership is doing it on brand new cars as well as customers cars. and these are dealerships like toyota of knoxville and subauru.
