Default Auto or Manual on an 04 GT?

I'm in the market for an 04 GT and I see a ton of automatics for sale but not many manuals. How strong are the automatics? It's going to be a daily driver and not abused. I would also like more information on the throw out bearing issue, head issue, and any other issues I should look out for when test driving. For those of you wondering I did search and it's encouraging to see the overall reliability of these cars. I'm getting rid of a nice new body style F150 that I can't justify anymore. Thanks in advance!

Good point, I'm also seeing 04's with 2000-5000 miles, what's up with that, a rebuild or something?

My preference is a manual but the selection is limited.

The 4r70w is actualy a realy strong tranny. You actually see the new mustangs swaping there autos out for these ones. Although it is a 4 speed it is nice. I would rather go manual but I have what I have. I also have no problems on it and I have 116k on the car.

Thanks for the input, how many times have you had the tranny flushed? Just curious...

I don't give a hoot how strong the 4r70w is. I can't stand driving an auto.

To the OP, just keep looking. Don't settle for something you don't really want. As soon as you do, you'll kick yourself in the *** when you find a manual that you could have bought if you waited just a bit more.

I hear what your saying and I'm not in a hurry, a manual would be ideal especially in a car like this! Can you give me any input on the throw out bearing issue that I'm reading about?
