Default PI cams in Non PI heads

So Im looking to swap PI cams into my stock NPI heads. From what I read they're good for about 15hp give or take. My question is can this be done easily with only taking off valve covers and cam covers and somehow holding the chains in place. I understand all 4.6 sohc mustangs have bolt on sprockets correct? can anyone give me a quick summary of the process/special tools needed?
oh yeah and this is my first post

i only have to take the valve covers off to do this... your car could have press on cam gears or bolt on cam gears... you need to find this out first. the PI motors are bolt on but i dont think all non PI are. what i did was ziptie the chain to the cam gears and kept tension on the chain while i slide the cam out and put the new one in its place. if it gets out of time somehow you will need to pull the timing cover off and fold the chain in half and mark each end, or find the bronze links in the chain. it is the same way either way, but then you need to just line up the mark on the crank with it and then the mark on the cam and your set...

i have a set of PI cams for sale with 32k miles on them if your intrested...

All NPI Cams were Bolt on- 99-00 Cams in PI were Press on (when they switched from romeo to windsor, I can never remember which the NPI was and which they eventually switched back to) and was once again Bolt on when they changed the plant for the engine back again.

don't want to steal a thread, but what about just a pi intake on a stock non-pi motor? any notable gains?

Go for it. I did it and the gains are definetly noticable. With the mods in the sig i am only 2 cars behind a new edge gt. The swap is rather easy. The hardest part is putting the valve covers back on, no room.
Thursday my pi intake should be arriving so ill be putting that on saturday and if anyone has questions ill be glad to help ya out.
