All I know is when I open up my exhaust to run open headers, it feels like complete and total ****. There's no other way to explain it. I can tell a difference. Have any of you guys run open headers?

If the lack of back pressure is bad, why do so many NA guys buy O/R X-H pipes with practically straight through catbacks? I don't understand that...why wouldn't more NA guys be going with catted midpipes? I know for a fact if your boosted you dont want backpressure, but the statement that NA guys should have some backpressure confuses me now. I haven't heard of anyone complaining of lack of backpressure before this and he was just asking about the popping.

OP: If you are talking about the popping noises from your exhaust when you let off the gas, yes that is fine. If it is sputtering or backfiring or anything like that durring acceleration, not so good.
Everyone Else: Are gears and backpressure always going to come up and be debated this heatedly? Jesus,I haven't been here that long and I have seen it way too much lol.

optimal backpressure is 0. it's been said thousands of times.
The reason your mufflers are popping = Your exhaust is hot. when you downshift,or left off the gas it creates a vaccuum effect, drawing a little bit of cool air into your exhaust,it rapidly heats up in your exhaust, causing that "popping" sound.
i have turndowns on my 2 chamber flows and it does the same thing, especially when i downshift to 2nd at 50MPH coming up to an intersection or something,i think it sounds badass [8D]
