Default Need help with running rich problem?

I have an 04 GT with the mods in my sig. and it has 53k

so today i go to start my car and instantly it kinda spit and sputtered then once it was done with that it idled higher than usual around 1400 rpm.

so then i get out of the car while it is still running and notice there is quite a bit of smoke coming outta of the tailpipes and even after it fully warmed up.

also i noticed once i was out of the car it kinda sounded like it sputter a little and there was no moisture coming out of the tailpipes.

so i don't know if any of you guys have experienced this before or have any ideas?

IAC possibly??? Pull it off (two bolts....VERY EASY) and make sure you do not damage the gasket. Clean it out with Brake Cleaner and rinse off residue. Dry and replace....You might have to pull the ground terminal (never had to do it myself, but read thatsome had to do it to reset ECM) but test it BEFORE you pull the ground. If it is sill acting up after the above......Check all the basics (fuel filter change, plug change, etc etc). One more thing...I had to buy a new IAC on my SVT Contour (cleaning did not help) but once the new one was installed......smooth sailing.

later

so do you guy's think that with the milage my IAC might have already gone bad?

I can see that possibly fixing the idle problem but could that be why it is smoking so much.

oh and the smoking only occurs at idle. i had a friend follow me and he said when i was cruisin along it wouldn't smoke but once i came to a stop it started again

Forgot to add that the one RIGHT OUT OF THE FORD BOX was bad!!!!! Had to get another one...so yes...these things are a crap shoot. Maybe a plug is not firing at idle making fuel pass throuhg unburnt??? When was the last time you changed plugs??/ I would plug change first (NGK TR5s) and go from there.
