Default o2 sensors grounding out?

i put my midpipe in about 2 weeks ago and ever since then when i start up my car the gauges reset. (go all the way to like 160mph, then come back to normal) the drivers side o2 sensor wire is pretty snug could it somehow cause a ground? the weird thing is that my clock never resets.

well i dont think its my battery, its still showing a green ball. would some o2 extenders be a good idea? i cant think of anything else that would cause this to happen.

I could not see that being the problem. When you say "grounded out" what do you mean? If one of the wires fused w/ the frame (which would cause a "ground out" if that wire was a positive wire (such as +12v or something) then your battery would just die quick, it wouldnt make your gadges reset. If the wire is a ground already, then its just redudant and wouldnt do anything at all.

I'd check for a a blown fuse (I can't remember which one) or bad wiring to the "always hot" KAM (Keep Alive Memory) terminal at the PCM--when the KAM clears the gauges do their full scale thing as part of the initalPCM start-up. Disconnecting the battery for 5-7 minutes will cause them to do it.I doubt it's a bad battery,because it takes at least 3-4 minutes at 0.0 volts to reset the KAM and that would not occur during cranking the engine...

If I remember correctly, there is a lame mod where people pull a certain fuse so the gauges do this - much like a new Corvette.

Why would you think your O2 sensors could ground out and make your gauges whacky? That's a weird association don't you think?

<snip>
I remember that now that you mention it--maybe a search for "lame instrument cluster mods" would turn something up...

you should check to see if your terminals are loose or corroded, mine were and the guages used to do the same thing
