RE: 5.4 specs
Someone posted a link to here, which has some good info on the 4.6 and 5.4
http://www.sullivanperformance.com/YVS450/tech/tech.htm
Also found some info on wikipedia.com. Just search for ford and modular
I have been comtemplating dropping a 5.4 in my '03 GT but still doing homework at this point. I'd love to do a 5.4 4V but I don't have that much cash and time laying around at this point. Do you think doing the 4.6 to 5.4 2V swap was worth the efforts? I have heard it isn't that expensive or problematic to do.
Hope this helps.
Pete

RE: 5.4 specs
cool, thanks for the info.
I was under the impression that it wasn't much better than a 4.6 2V due to the fact that they use the same heads which don't flow so well. My car is just a street cruiser so I think building torque over upper end HP is a more fitting way to go. Plus, I can alway slap on a blower to help with that.
Do you mind if I ask you a few questions about your swap?
Where did you source your 5.4 from? Explorer? F-series truck? Not sure if any have better internals over another and other years.
How hard was the swap in terms of things bolting right up? I thought there were some modifications to the exhause manifolds to get them to fix
Did you have to upgrade the fuel system and clutch to handle the extra demand from the motor?
Do you have to get it re-tuned immediately after the swap to account for the new displacement?
Does the car handle the same with the extra weight up front? (I thought the motor weights were negligible.
Thanks for the help and hope I didn't hijack the thread.
