Default 4R70W from a V6

Has anyone put a 4R70W automatic from a V6 mustang into a V8? My trans just went out in my 2000 GT. I know thereare some slight changes to the internals and the torque converter will probably have a higher stall. Will it bolt right in and will the wiring harness be the same? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

yea their could be some issues with the wiring harness. I'm not sure of the bolt pattern though, I doubt it is the same because the V6 uses the T-5 5speed with the same housing from the 5.0 I think and that is different for the 4.6....I will find out tomorrow though in class. I'll look it up on alldata.

I forgotto mention, my 2000 GT has the 4R70W auto right now. I can obtain '99 to '04 V6 4R70W's with low mileagelocally for around $100.

I don't think that the bell housings are the same. I believe that the bell housing for the V6 4R70W has a similar design and bolt pattern to the old 5.0s. Since the 4R70W for all models don't have a removable bell housing youprobably couldn't use the tranny from the V6. Maybe you could swap the internals.
