Default Transmission Shop Woes

So I took my car in to have my 4th gear fixed and have a Spec 2 clutch installed. Bill came out to $1800. No big deal. Drive off, 4th is still busted. I took it back and they fixed it again. Drive around more, and its still broke. So I bring it in for time number 3 and I have to wait all week and then call them to find out the deal. The guy thinks its the input shaft now and its gonna be another $200, and hes gonna cover all the labor. I really weary of being ripped off here, I dont know if ive been having my leg pulled this whole time, or if this guys is just guessing at whats wrong. What should I do, tell him to **** off and take my car back or bite the Bullitt and pay the $200?

You are being milked, either on purpose or because the mechanic is incompetent.
How the heck can a shop install parts, claim they fixed the problem and return a car to you that is obviously still broken?
What did they do, back it out of the shop and park it without test driving it?
Did they honestly believe you weren't going to notice the problem was still there?

FWIW transmission shops are right behind alignment shops for total incompetency and if and when you find a professional, honest, competent shop stick with them and recommend them to every person who asks.

Most tranny shops these days are swap and drop because they know that even the worst rebuild/junkyard special (painted silver of course to look new) will more than likely outlive the warranty.

As for what to do, I dunno what to tell you.
On one hand, maybe the guy is right this time and for $200.00 you'll be set.
On the other hand, if he can't properly diagnose this the first time and returns a still broken car to you, what does that say?
Do you really want him potentially causing more damage?

wow and to think your pretty close to the cost of a tko [:@]. o and just a thought, i dont see you making enough power to be breaking input shafts. heck have the time people who order tkos dont even opt for the 26 spline and they beat the hell outa those trans........jus my 2 cents.
