Be patient and keep working on them. One thing that you can bring into the picture is depreciation. That car has been sitting on that lot for a while, and has actually depreciated some. Use that as a supplemental argument. I think your target of 17k is realistic and correct. Stick with your guns, and be patient. I bet they sell it to you for what you want.

I don't know how this deal is going to go down. I'm skeptical because I'm going to be trading in my '99 Chevy Blazer 2D 4WD. It has 71K miles on it - which is below average - but the average trade-in/resale value of the vehicle is less than I owe on the loan (~$7000). They're going to have to be really willing to work on this deal - they're basically going to make next to nothing on this deal if it does go down like I'd need it to.
