ring gear

Default ring gear

was just curious is there a formula to figure out what gear u have i bought a set of 3.73 from a guy but i would like to make sure i didnt get ripped off can any body help

ok with the rear wheels up in the air spin the drive shaft three times, the rear wheel should spin about 3/4s of a turn, BUT f**k that ****, just go here.... http://www.corral.net/tech/gearcalc.html

well they are not in the car yet so is there a way to count the teeth and do some kind of math crap

Count the teeth on the ring gear, and divide by the teeth on the pinion..

The gearing should be stamped in to the side. Both ring gears for my truck had 4.56:1 stamped onto them.

Make sure that the numbers on the ring and the pinion match up. Not just counting to verify the ratio, but to make sure that they are indeed the matching set for each other.
