Default 99 4.6

I just bought a 99 mustang, the front end was damaged and the engine was sold. My question is will it be worth buying a 96 crown vic to use the engine out of. The crown vic is a police interceptor, complete and running, decent condition. The trans is still in the mustang. I can get the vic for $400. Is this worth it and will I be able to use all the crown vic stuff such as wiring harness, etc. I know this has been discussed 1000 times butI could not find exactly what I needed. Thanks

No, but it would be worth it to buy a cobra motor and slap it in there

just know it would be a mess. You are dealing with two different fuel systems and computers (especially if the mustang is manual). And the police interceptor crown vics had 220hp compared to 260 the 99' mustangs had due to different engine heads and a few other later mods.

Just find a wrecked 99-04 mustang would be my advice.

The crown vic is an automatic. Is the trans even the same in the crown vic?

Are the mounts different also? The mustang still has the harness, I had just did some reading and it said most of the stuff is the same, maybe spin the intake so that it is on the pass side. This may all be different in 99.

do yourself a favor and just find a used 2v 99-04. they can be had for about $500~ and will put out better power than the crown vic motor.
