Built bottom end, upgraded fuel system custom tune, P&P heads, cams, and some sort of forced induction. Your looking at $8-$10k.

How much power do you have now? I'd say cams, a smaller pulley and a built shortblock would get you there with a good tune!

+1, no need for a 4v or anything stupid like that.

MMR 900 Shortblock, set of MPH custom ground FI cams, and a MPH tune will get you there. Your going to probably need bigger than 42 lb/hr injectors and a better pump than the SVT focus one. IMO some 60s and a aviator 310LPH would probably get you there.

I don't know if I'd call a 4v stupid, haha, but I know what you mean. [8D]

If 450 is good enough, you can hit that without the built bottom end, 450 is the limit without new internals. Really a little bit less to be safe. Once you try to get past that you're going to have to put a lot of time and money, but with a forged shortblock, if you're already S/Ced, you can crank up the boost.

So the question is, is 400-450 ok, or do you want to spend the money to get 500?

Theres a pretty big difference between a 400ish WHP stock shortblock car and a built shortblock car. Its not just the increased WHP, its the increased RPM potential, plus with a smaller pulley the blower will build more boost at lower RPMs.

Of course there is. But you pay a LOT for that difference. I'm just asking if that's really what he wants or if he thought he could hit that without that kind of money, because honestly, once you have a forged bottom end, 500 won't even be a goal anymore, it's more of a starting point.

+1 on the fuel system. honestly heres the thing. ive seen ( and i know a few others have too) a few mustangs that have hit 500+rwhp on stock h/c/i with just a blower, fuel system and supporting bolt ons! its not hard to hit 500, the problem is that you need a lot of supporting mods to sustain it. ie: fuel system, clutch.....you get the point if you want a good setup that wont cost a whole lot and would definitely get you on your way to 500rwhp. id say get the mmr 600 or 900, get the blower $3699 (modular powerhouse) and add meth or intercooler! youd see anywhere from 400rwhp to 450rwhp depending on the tune and from there just upgrade in steps. with that setup youd be more than happy!

not to mention the constant worry of throwing a rod out of the side of the block every time you lay the hammer down. i really dont think my motor will be goin before i get the new shortblock installed but still the possibilities are still there
