Help with Misfiring

RE: Help with Misfiring
dude, dont just replace one wire and plug. do it right and get new wires and plugs. also might as well replace the other coil. that way there is no room for error and it shouldnt be misfiring.

had the same thing (except mine was #8) right after i got my car. the plugs, wires, and coil packs where fine. it turned out to me the plug wire "boot" that fits over the plug had cracked and was allowing the spark to jump to the head. replaced all the wires and car runs fine. as a side note does your misfire all the time or just under load? mine only did it under heavy load (aka trying to get the car moving in 2nd from a 5mph roll, or a hill pull in 5th).

I believe that it does it all the time, but I'm not 100%. It idles really rough especially when my foot is on the brake, and I feel chugging and hear loud popping noises when it's under load (especially going up hills). When I coast it seems fine but I assume that is because the motor isn't doing any work so it won't be trying to fire that cylinder. Also I don't think it is the wire because I swapped the #3 wire and #6 wire (driver's side 2nd from front) and when I read the code it was still #3 misfire, but I will go ahead and check the boot.

RE: Help with Misfiring
if it idles rough when you put you foot on the brake you could have a vacuum leak, but i dont thank that would cause misfire. if the wires dont fix it the only thing i can thank of is the coil pack, i guess the #3 tower may be damaged.
