when the car is at idle and i floor it it studders for a sec and then it powers up like normal if i do it from a take off sometimes it will pause and then it will go. one time it paused backfired once and then it would run normaly. has anyone had this problem before. i keep up on maintance suck as spark plugs and filters ect. i want to find out what this problem is because i am supposed to be getting a blower this weekend and this could damage the engine.

Could be a few things. A clogged fuel filter... clogged cat(s)... bad injector. Since you keep up with all your maintenance then I would take a look at the cats.

I've seen Mustangs with the timing advanced to far have these symptoms.

what could clog the cats? also how would i check to see if they are clogged. i don't think it is the timing the i have a diablo tunner and it advances a max of 12deg when i had my timing adjuster it was at 14. it only started doing this with in the last week or so. if it were the cats do you think it would be progressive or would it just happen like this. also it isn't throwing any codes. if it is an injector wouldn't it have these problems all the time. other than the momentary studder it has full power.

Actually with the 01+ GT's if you go over 15 degrees advanced then you will get bad power surges also. Its not recommended to go over 14 degrees.

Well how long has it been doing it? The way you wrote it, it seemed as if it haooened all of the sudden. The only way to chech the cats is to take the midpipe off. When mine was clogged on my truck, I went up under it with a rubber mallet and hit it while someone was reving it up and it **** everything out. It may or may not work for you. When was the last time you had your fuel filter changed?
