RE: Major problems after PI cam/intake swap
i don't want the bump in compression...that's whyI opted for the cam/intake swap. I've talked to some guys on here and corral that have done the swap and haven't had any problems. And as far as the cam being seated correctly, it was seated fine, but it's too skinny for the caps. I have no idea why but it is. I was told that the left and right side are identical cams (same part # too), so that baffles me how it doesn't fit right. Anyway, I've got the NPI cams reinstalled and i'm going to check the manifold to see if it has any derformities or cracks anywhere. I'm thinking the coolant leak is at the front of the manifold because there was coolant around every plug boot and I drove it, so I guess it leaked from the front and got thrown to the back.

Did you take the cam that fit correctly out and try it in the other head?

RE: Major problems after PI cam/intake swap
Ok guys. I put the NPI cams back in. Also, I did some extra silicone work at the coolant ports and other places including where the aluminum crossover bolts to the intake. We took it off to try and switch my old crossover to it, so for some extra insurance I cleaned everything really well and siliconed the gaskets. I also siliconed the thermostat housing just for added peace of mind. I fired it up with no coolant and it runs great with the old cams back in. When it was running with the PI cams, it had a top end knock...it actually sounded like a rod knocking, but it was from the cam not fitting properly in the journals. Anyway, the true test comes tonorrow when I put coolant in it after the silicone sets up tonight.
