Default GT vs. Cobra vs. Mach

Hey everyone, Im looking to get back into the mustang world after I sell my current vehicle. I was looking to buy a new edge mustang 99-02. Iplan to perform all the bolt on mods and possibly do a little more to the vehicle.Just wanted some input on what you guys think I should get, a GT, Cobra or Mach. I know GT insurance is quite a bit less but I am not sure exactly how much faster a 99 or 01 cobra is and if its worth spending the extra money for that over a GT. Any help you guys could give me would be great. Thanks

One thing I forgot to add, I have found a GT with all forged internals, new rods, crank. Just wondering if that is worth buying over a cobra or mach because of the mods already done, Thanks.

99-04 GT < 99/01 Cobra = 03/04 Mach 1 < 03/04 Cobra

The GT's have 16 valves as opposed to the Cobra/Machs 32 valves. The Cobras and Machs respond MUCH better to mods than the GTs.

Don't worry about forged internals unless you plan on 500+ rwhp, which would take a lot of work on anything but the 03/04 Cobras, but the 03/04 Cobras come stock with forged internals anyway.

A full bolt on cobra or a mach can keep up with a heads/cam + bolt on gt.The car it self(cobra/mach) is moreexpensivebut u dont have to spend as much money to make them as fast though

Plus if you're planning on getting one to keep for a long time, a Cobra (or Mach) will keep it's value much longer... and possibly go up in the long run. Just look at Fox body Cobras... they cost more right now than a 99 GT does. In the long run, there will be a GT everywhere, butfew Cobras.

4v does respond much better to bolt ons, and its got a higher redline

the forged gt wouldnt be bad at all though, already forged you can get a blower and put down 500+ rwhp (the motor can take it but youll still have to get new axles, maybe a new tranny if that hasnt been swapped or beefed yet).

what all else is done to the GT and whats its pricetag sitting at?

A full bolt on cobra/mach would destroy a full bolt on 99-04 gt. I mean we are talking about roughly 350+rwhp vs 300rwhp here with typical bolt ons (heads, cams, full exhaust and intake mods).

The GT I found is a 2000 with 63,000 miles. All forged internals with amany bolt ons. Car looks great w/ suspension work and what looks like Nitto drags on the back. Guys asking $11,999 what do you guys think?

And yes in general I love the look of the cobras and the 4v engine, especially the two tone interior!

i had a full bolt on gt minus gears and i thought it was cool till my buddy crane got a 01 cobra nad i couldnt beat him and he was stock. other than nittos. i sold it andgot a mach 1 and i love it. dont get 99 cobras unless they have been fixed by thedealer. they are horid cars. the cobra has irs with alot of work it will be good for drag racing. where the mach has a solid rear. the cobra looks like a cheap v6 with a nice bumper bc of the hood where the mach has the bad *** shaker hood.

its up to you what do you want. a car that gets good gas(gt) or a car that gets good responces to mods(cobra/mach)
