Here's my story...I bought an 01 Cobra on the 19th of October and have only driven it about 4 times and it started smoking. Piston rings are shot! The car has 62,000 original miles on it. I paid little more for it because it has the Vortech V-2E Supercharger Kit, 42lb injectors, BBK full length headers, SLP exhaust and a SCT chip and Commander. But now it's sitting at my mechanic's shop getting new rod bearings, main bearings and piston rings which is costing me another $3,500!

If had to do it over again I would've still bought a Cobra just because I love the whole Cobra thing. Get this, the car was said to be "lady driven". My advice, whichever one you get take a Compression Tester with you before you buy it and check the cyclinders. I didn't and now I'm paying the price. Number three cyclinder read out at 60 while all the others are 110. Now I'm going to end up having a $21,5002001 Cobra. But that's ok because I love the car.

depends on what you wanna do with it. If that "something different" is road racing, get the IRS cobra, if its a different kind of drag racing, like modualr instead of pushrod from your BB fox body, get the mach.

Get the Mach. Newer and much better styling. The 99/01 Cobra's tend to look like V6/GT's with a fancy front bumper like 5speedstang said.

looks like the mach is up on the cobra's, so the 01 cobras are they as bad as the 99's , and if th recall fixed everything why would they be worse off, and is here a diffrence in the 4.6 mod motors arent all the 4v's the same?

no not all 4v motors are the same. the 03/04 cobra has differnt ground cams. im not sure about the other motors but i think its all in the heads if there is a differnce.

so if its just h/c what would make the 01 worse.....and doesnt the 99-01 cobra have the forged crank? i know im asking a **** ton of questions, but i dot want to buy a lemon if i get the cobra or whatever i get.

no cobras dont have forged cranks(99-01)

machs do have forged cranks but only manual, auto's do not

man, once again the mach comes out on top.....unless someone can tell me why a cobra is better the mach is it.

Yes, 99s and 01s have forged cranks. You're right about the Mach.

You gotta remember, 95% of the memberson this sitelive their lives a 1/4 mile at a time. The Cobra was an obvious choice for me because I wanted versatility in performance.....

And trustme, NO ONE mistakes my car fior a V6....
