ok im looking at getting a cobra or a mach 1, the 99-01 cobras are about equal with the mach 1's. which would be etter in the long run? the mach or the 99-01 cobra. I've always wanted a cobra, but i love the mach's. so 4.6 guys lay into the pro's and con's on each of these.

They are equals, except for the Cobras IRS. The Mach's shaker, whereas cool, doesn't do much of anything for performance. The Cobras are obviously at least a couple years older, but will be a little bit cheaper.

Go with what you can find the best deal on.

99-01 cobra 10-14k
03-04 mach 16-20k

99-01 cobra irs(lot of money to make it worth keeping)
03-04mach solid (great for drag racing)

99-01 cobra looks like a v6 with a nice bumper
03-04 mach looks like a bad *** mussle car

mach 1/cobra (32v) bad gas millage when you romp on it
gt (16v) same gas millage if your romp on it or baby it (my gt was like that 23 mpg no matter what)

thats the basic of it.

well i've done the drag race scene...bad ***, but i wanna try something difrent, so i think im gonna go with the cobra. I've got a BB fox on the back burner right now for the drag race scene.

ill go ahead and give you my opinion of the 99 cobras...first off, they had factory recalls if that says anything...secondly aftermarket parts are too expensive...and thirdly, from my experience i had so much trouble with mine from 70k miles on, it seemed like everything was breaking and as soon as i fixed one thing, something else broke...if youre gonna buy a 99, get low miles...now the 2001's from what ive seen with my buddies, it seems reliable and my buddy with his mach has no complaints...although my car was much faster, theres was more reliable...so i cut my losses on something i was trying to build and switched to a 2v because they are bullet proof...just my own opinion from my own experience...hope it helps


p.s. but when the car wasnt breaking....man i loved that car....i miss her : ' (

I'd say go with a Mach 1. Unless it's a 03/04 Cobra of course

Get the Cobra.

I would definitely go with the Mach 1 for the sole reason its a little bit newer and probaly has less miles. Performance wise their on the same level.

go with the Mach 1... solid rear end, better styling, newer, manuals have a forged crank for what its worth, and have a little higher compression than the 99-01 Cobra motors did
