'98 GT battery/alternator/voltage regulator problem...help?
Hey guys, new owner/member here. Just picked up a '98 GT 5spd, lowered on factory '03 Cobras and a flowmaster cat-back. Love it. Paid $3500 too
Today, my 2nd day of ownership, the battery/car died on the highway and I towed it to my house. PO replaced the battery 2 weeks ago, but the needle on the gauge was reading a little below the half way mark. There is a slight, slight alternator noise on startup. I hooked up a battery charger and I can't get a full charge.
Since it's a new battery, I'm guessing it's the alternator or voltage regulator. Any way to tell which it could be, or should I just replace both? Whats the best/cheapest place to get the parts? Are there any DIY/tech write-ups on how to replace the alternator myself?
Thanks in advance.

replacing the alt is really easy, maybe 15 minutes the first time. just disconnect the harness then remove the belt then the two bolts that connect it to the bracket then loosenthe two lower bolts.
but before you replace it, get it tested to be sure that it's the problem even though it mostlikely is

Get yourcar started and while its runningdisconnect the positive cable if the car dies its your alternator if it stays running its your battery. Plain and simple
