Default rear shocks

ok i dot know how to explain it well but I changed my shocks allready but when I was changing them I noticed another shock lookin thing connecting to the axle? I tryed to look it up and came up with that its a shock absorber but some companies call their shocks that to. what is this? It looks old and beat up so I want to get a new one. looks like a shock but doesnt go up to the trunk....???

I have an 02 GT

Thanx much!

you can buy them at any auto parts store. I've also heard them called axle dampers.

sometimes I wonder how some MFer's ever passed a test in school.

Q: "Where do I buy quad shocks."
A: "Buy lower control arms."
