Default Engine Missing out

Help! I have an 02 GT w/ 105k miles. Recently the engine has been missing out. At first I thought it might be water in the gas. But after 2 bottles of Heet, no difference. I also replaced the fuel filter with no difference. The spark plugs were replaced earlier this spring (about 10k miles ago). Also, it's intermittent. There's no check engine light either. Could this possibly be a vacuum leak? Or maybe an ignition coil? I'd like to avoid getting raped by the dealerbut I don't knowof anything else I could check without placing this on a diagnostic machine.

could be a lot of things, but check the coils and recheck your plugs

Who knows if those coils are still stock or not. I would just go ahead and replace them...

Yeah, I have a coworker that hasa leftover set of coils from a Mark VIII. I'm not sure if they're the same though. I'll find out tomorrow and see if that's the problem. The real challenge will be diagnosing if that is in factthe problem, and if it is which coil is the culprit, since this occurs intermittently.

How much does a new set of 8 coils usually cost?

Think I'll stick to the used set from the Mark VIII (provided they fit). I just hope I don't inherit another bad one from the used set.

My engine had the same problem with 98,000 miles. I replaced the coil packs and the problem is gone. I'd stick with Motorcraft. My mechanic/tuner said he's seen cars lose power with Granitelli coils.

Easiest way is to get them at a Ford dealer. They're around 60-70 a piece. Not cheap.
