The 4th powersteering pump bolt is giving me trouble. Its the one right behind where a line goes into the pump. How the hell can I get it off. I managed to get a wrench on it but it was on so tight that I bent the wrench. It still didnt budge...its driving me nuts.

Its a pain. You just have to keep working at it is all I can suggest.

I remember it was a bitch too.. make sure you get the lines tight when you put it back on.. mine still leaks a drop of power steering fluid everyonce in a while.

Its only a 10mm bolt man. Get the boxed end of a wrench (good brand) on there, and double wrench it if you have to. Break it loose, then get a 10mm wratchet wrench, and put it on there and back the bolt out. The pump will come with the bolt, because the line is still in the way. Unless you really want to take that line off and bleed your PS system..

Yeah think of how I felt after I stripped that bolt lol. Luckily somehow I got a stip bolt remover on it and got it out. It took a long time and a lot of cursing.

I stared at it with my lack of tooling about a week ago. I havent had the time, nor the urgent will power to go mess with it since.

Then again, I did not have any metric wrenches to deal with either. And there was absolutely no room for a wratchet of any sort.

Yeah you have to put a **** load of extentions and bendy peices (forgive my terminology).

all i did was take a nice craftsman 10mm wrench... and loosen it through the pulley. thats really the only way if you dont take the line off. and it worked.

How do you get that line off that is right in front of the bolt? The Ford manual says that it is a quick disconnect line. Should it pull right out? Is there a snap ring holding it in?

Use a 10mm gear wrench. Ive taken that power steering pump off at least a dozen times, and thats the easiest way, dont screw around with taking the PS line off.
