Default Loose drivetrain - would a new driveshaft help?

Hi, I have a loose drive train, at low speeds when I am not under acceleration and still in gear the car can sometimes lurch back and forth as the drive catches up with loseness somewhere along the drive train. Is there anyway to fix this? Would a new drive shaft or drive shaft joints help at all, or perhaps they have nothing to do with it?
Thanks
C

It's normal. Every 5 speed mustang I've ever driven has done this. An easy way to fix this is to not get into the gas too hard after coasting against the engine. Touch it softly to get the engine to "catch up" to the rear wheels, then hammer it.

Edit: There's no real way to fix it by replacing parts. Solid motor mounts will help, but the transmission and rear end also have a lot to do with it.

+1, it's a relatively high torque capacity, front engine RWDdriveline, and that's the way they are--practice doing as "jman" says and you'll get good at working around it.

Take a look at your u-joints and transmission mounts. These cars have clunky 'loose' feeling drivetrains, there isn't much you can do about it.

In my 02 GT it was excessively bad and my transmission mount was not in good shape. After replacing it, it really gave it a much tighter feeling.

Check your u-joints... could possibly be about to go out.

+1 for the driveline just being on the clunky side. As said before just make sure the u-joints are in good shape. I would think that lower the rotational mass of the driveline with an aluminum drive shaft and flywheel might help a little.
