Default metal flakes in discharge tube? (with Pics)

I was piecing every thing together from the Vortech V2 kit I bought from tedd at TMS and I happen to notice some metal flakes in the inter walls of the discharge tube (Intake piping) Is this something I need to worry about? they seems to really be stuck onto the walls but can be picked of. is the headunit going bad? did the other persons motor blow causing this? Now I'm worried about using this kit that i spent money on

I would not use that man, you said you bought it new rite? if new then return for different one, if used with time on the headunit already, you need to ask some questions???

also sometimes from the forging process the pipes will come out this way, even if they are brand new. Looks like poor quality tubing!

this is a used kit that has about 15k miles on it. should i be worried about the headunit? it seems to spin freely and no play but if that's coming from the headunit I would hate to install it and blow my motor from metal going in.

Is there any indication that the impeller has been shedding metal, and/or where those flakes might have come from? I wouldn't run that puppy on my engine 'til I had some idea where the flakes came from...

this is what he told me
"pipe was in a box with misc. parts

i believe that that is just particles stuck to the pipe from it sitting around

this has nothing to do with the motor blowing up due to the supercharger.

I would get that pipe cleaned out before use"

If those particles came from the head unit then it would have to be from the impeller scraping metal from the case. If it is doing that then the bearings are gone in the charger and you will be able to move the impeller up and down and side to side or in and out. You should be able to see if the impeller has made contact with the housing just by looking at the impeller as well. Those pipes do look like that sometimes.

It has no play on the headunit. so I shouldn't worry and just clean up the pipe?

It's your call. That's what I would do. The metal couldn't have come from the head unit if there is nothing wrong with it. If it was a bad bearing then the seal would be bad were the metal shavings came through and there would be oil down there as well. If it was from the impeller shaving off the housing you would see that too.

is there any way of checking the headunit without sending it to vortech?
