Pro-Chamber v.s X-pipe v.s H-pipe
Ok I have a 2002 GT with CAI, Cat-back and 3.73s on the way. Now I need a good mid-pipe...Everyone tells me go with x-pipe cause they give the best hp gains...but i found the sound annoying...I heard a guy with a mac pro-chamber...WOW the sound is awesome..he tells me on my engine it will give around 10hp! What should I do...what the hp difference between pro-chamber and x-pipe or h-pipe(all O/R)

i got a prochamber and i dont call it deep. i call it more of a droning noise. h pipe is louder down low and more of a muscle sound i guess you could say. x pipe is a lil quieter in the lower rpm but gets loud and raspy up high. chamber is like an x but not as raspy. horsepower gains are minimal as stated so go with what you think sounds good. obviously you like the sound on the prochamber so i say go for that, it is more expensive than other pipes though.

If you go with a chambered muffler the Prochamber sounds amazing. X pipe is not my style, too raspy, and H pipe is too loud IMO. Prochamber has a nice tone to it and is fairly tame for an off-road midpipe. Power difference between the three is negligible, however Prochamber will make the most HP (not by much).

Soundwise, H-pipe = Musclecar; X-pipe = NASCAR; then there's the chambered vs. flow-through muffler issue which I won't even attempt to touch...I have a UPR catted X-pipe, with a custom 2-1/2" catback using Magnaflow 11236 mufflers (flow-through design) and DynoMax tailpipes--it is not the least bit raspy, has a nice rumble 'til you get on it, andthen itsounds very much like the noises I hear in the spring from this place down the street from my office--just off Bill France road in Daytona Beach...

H pipe and a chambered muffler for the best muscle car sound you can get. I'd go with a flowmaster 40 or 44 series muffler and an o/r H. Like everyone says, go for what you want for your car.

i love the sound of my mac o/r h pipe! got noticable gains from it. here is a sound clip of me rev'in her up. on the 2nd rev i put the camara outside of the car, and rev it, so you can hear what it sounds like inside and outside the car...

Well I can honestly say that I have had all 3 styles of midpipes. I had an x pipe on first[:'(], sounded like ***. I have an H pipe on my wifes car with flows, sounds amazing. I have a prochamber on my car with longtubes, sound good but not as good as the H.
