Car shoots flames

Sometimes when i have friends driving behind me and i down shift and romp on it i shoot flames out of the tail pipes. I don't have the car tuned but i also don't have any cel's. I have a slight exhaust leak off the passenger manifold. I was throwing lean codes after i did my x-pipe and drove it around for a while thinking it was the leak and it went away after a lil while. Could the car have compensated for the lean code and now the air/fuel is messed up?

No one has any idea why my cars shooting 1-2 ft flames on hard downshifts and flooring it without a cel? I guess its obvious that theres unburnt fuel igniting but what should i be looking at to be the fix, just the exhaust leak? And is this dangerous to my mufflers?

is the car backfiring when you do it? i've seen it happen before on a couple of cars but they were running rich, not lean......i don't know if it's bad for the car though.....

The Powerstroke diesels are know to have that "feature." IMHO you are running very rich....
