I weighed my car about a month before I left. With a 1/4 tank of gas it weighed 2957 lbs. I asked the guy about calibration and he said it was done every week.

Ok so im tired of all the misinformed opinions on how much newedge mustangs weigh. Most ppl think they're heavier than they are. So here it is. From ford. The stock curb weight for a 99-04 Mustang GT 5-speed.
GT Coupe: 3237 lbs.
GT Convertible: 3375 lbs.
GT Coupe: 3237 lbs.
GT Convertible: 3375 lbs.
Edit: fix and add "terminator"

Something was wrong with the scale... there is simply no way a coupe or vert are anywhere close to 3000, let alone below it.
3237 sounds a bit light... the 03/04 cars are an easy 3800, and I have always heard around 3400 for the coupes.

Yeah but what evidence do you have to support that?

RE: Mustang Curb Weight
Well considering I have taken over 200lbs out of the front end, 100 lbs out of the rear, and probably close to another 100lbs through out the rest of the car I'm pretty sure the scale was dead on.

Its hard to drop weight... which is unfortunate. 400 WHP in say a 2900 pound car would be alot better than 3400ish.

Look at the miniscule power levels required to get a notchback fox into the 12s.. even with weaksauce 60' times. It sucks pretty bad... if our cars acutally did weigh (IRL at the track) 3200 ish we would be right on with say a hatchback fox.... and that would be badass.
The notch fox cars weighed around 3050 or so, give or take, which makes them such hot ticket items for the strip (and makes them hard to find now). Its easy to get one down into the 2800 pound range by just stripping a few things like A/C, passenger seat etc etc... if only it were true of our cars.

RE: Mustang Curb Weight
I just got a sheet I made up awhile back when I was thinking of doing some weight reduction... its pretty depressing:
Figured on doing a rear seat delete, jack/spare tire delete, full racing seats in the front (non adjustable ones).I figured this would be a good weight loss...
Pretty depressing, but your looking at something like 300 a seat for the fronts, and 200 bucks for the rear delete... so 800+ bucks for 129 pounds
According to AM, the stock K member weighs on average 50 LBs... and their aftermarket one 36 From what I have seen, its much the same for the rest of the suspension... a little here and a little there just don't add up to much.
It just sucks, but I cannot see any way your going to drop sigificant weight (say 300+ pounds) without a massive sacrifice of the creature comforts, that is A/C, radio, power steering, etc etc.
Edit: It depends on your option package as well... Mach 360/1000, power windows, power doorlocks etc all will increase the weight. I just did a google and several sites are (of course) listing several different curb weights.. anywhere from 3270ish to 3390ish for the coupe.

In the rear the trunk is empty no carpet, no spare, no jack, no interior panels. Only thing in the trunk is the battery. The suspension is all tubed parts (soon to slap in coilovers in there) and weight taken out from all over the rearend that you wouldnt believe is there. Crap behind the wheels, under the bumper coverand soon.
Through out the car I still have all interior pieces but I removed the door bars, removed little things here and there that I no longer needed like some wiring, some carpet, stuff like that.
My goal is to get the car down to 2550. Seats and a roll cage will be going in when I get home andall interior will come out. All power assisted crap (brakes, steering) will also be coming out. Lighter wheels, less exhaust piping, aluminum parts (flywheel, driveshaft) will be going in. I'm sure Ill find more. The car won't be able to be driven on the street because of the power level it will have so I'm just gonna gut it. But in street trim right now I think the weight is pretty nice and alows me to beat supercharged mustang and ones on the bottle.
