Default PATRIOT STAGE 3?

Ok, so I was gonna order a set of Patriot Stag 3 heads to compliment the Hardball r intake I just ordered. The guy form HPS told me that they do all the testing with patriot heads and that the stage 3 heads will not work on the stock bottom end. He said that due to the oversized valves, they will hit my deck unless its bored .020 over. Does anyone know if this is true? I know Fox Lake runs oversized valves in their stage 2 heads, which I know many people run on stock bottom end cars. If anyone can shine some light to the situation please fill me in. Thanks...

I have heard the same thing, but I cannot confirm. As for the stage IIs, yes they have bigger valves, otherwise they would be pointless, but not soo big as to need to bore your block, the oversized valves in stage II, will still fit inside the 4.6 stock bore, stage IIIs, I have HEARD will not....

How big are these valves that they use in the st 3 heads? My heads have oversized valves (Fox-Lake st2) and work just fine in the stock bore.

stage IIs work fine within the stock bore, its some of the stage IIIs that dont

BUT the patriot stage IIIs have

1.84" intake
1.452" exhaust

with a 3.552 bore

That is bigger then my valves on the intake side. Mine are 1mm bigger then stock which comes to like 1.79 intake and 1.46 on the exhaust.

boring the cylinder out .020 is a good thing anyway. That helps to unshroud the valves and increases overall flow.

Thanks guys for the replies. I also contacted gunnar and he said what you guys did. Im not ready to do any bottom end work, and dont really plan to since im staying N/A and wont really benefit from it. So Im just gonna get the stage 2s.
